FLEX Instructions

Please be aware: No images, videos or times from a FLEX competition may be shared until the online meeting has taken place.

Many FLEX competitions also have a related LIVE competition with the same puzzle. In this case, nothing may be shared until after the puzzle has been officially released in the LIVE competition.

Thanks for respecting this and keeping it fun and spoiler-free for everyone! 😃

Offline Participation

If you are unable to join the online meeting, you may send us a video of your solve. The deadline for video submission is midnight the following day. For example: If the competition is on Tuesday at 7pm / 19:00, the deadline is Wednesday 11:59pm / 23:59.

In the video, you must show the original puzzle in its giftwrap and still intact. Then you may unwrap the puzzle and remove any plastic wrap or stickers. You may look at the image for 30 seconds before starting your timer, opening the puzzle box and starting assembly.

The video must be at normal speed, no time lapses. It must show your table, the timer and all pieces while you build.

If you need longer than 2 hours to finish the puzzle, please stop your timer at 2 hours and count the leftover pieces.

The video must be uploaded to YouTube as an unlisted video or to a cloud folder, for example Google Drive or Dropbox. Share the link in the registration form. Do not send attachments.

Deactivating your screensaver

Please deactivate the screensaver on your phone or tablet. Otherwise, your screen may go black and you may not be able to press the "Done" button or see the timer.

Android: Go to Settings → Display → Screen timeout, Sleep, Lock screen or Auto screen off. Set it to the maximum or Never.

If your device does not allow you to fully turn off the timeout, you can use an app such as:

iPhone: Go to Settings → Display & Brightness → Auto-Lock and choose Never.

Joining the video call

Please use the following link to join the competition: https://meet.google.com/bjh-yevb-tfc

We use Google Meet for the video call. It runs in any web browser and you do not need to install or register anything. Just allow Google Meet to use your camera and microphone.

Please use the same name you registered with when you enter the meeting. If you cannot choose your name, open Meet in a new incognito window. If you are unable to match your name, please write a comment in the chat.

This competition will not be recorded or live-streamed by us.

Online participation

Do not open the mystery puzzle before the call starts. We will unwrap the puzzles together two minutes before the starting time.

Point your camera at your puzzling area. Your hands, all puzzle pieces and your puzzling surface must be visible at all times. Please keep your microphone muted.

After you have finished your puzzle, press the "Done" button on the timer website. If you have problems with the timer website, you can write "done" in the Google Meet chat instead.

After the event

If your puzzle is not finished within the time limit, the remaining pieces will be counted to determine the ranking. Enter your remaining pieces on the timer website.
