Puzzathon Trier 17.08.2025


We invite you to join us in Trier for a summer speed puzzling party! Bring your friends and puzzle your way through 12 puzzles over a 10 hour period. Every piece counts!

Schedule

  • 8.30am - Puzzle Swap opens in the puzzle swap room.
  • 9.15am - Participants should be seated in the main hall. Rules and information will be announced.
  • 9.30am - Competition begins.
  • 12.00-2.00pm - Lunch is served in the bistro.
  • 4.00-5.00pm - Coffee break is served next to the competition hall.
  • 6.00-8.00pm - Dinner is served in the bistro.
  • 7.30pm - Competition and puzzle swap ends.
  • 7.45pm - Prizegiving.

General Information

  • Maximum of four people puzzling at any given time.
  • Teams manage their own breaks during the 10 hours.
  • Organizers track solved puzzles; results updated online.
  • Tickets are sold individually; teams registered after ticket sale.
  • One food option must be purchased in addition to the ticket.


Who can participate?

Everyone and all nationalities are welcome! There is no advantage nor disadvantage to have mixed nationalities or to be a non-German team. The three fastest teams win prizes!

Under 18s may participate if experienced with long focus periods and 1000 piece puzzles.

Individuals without a team may still participate; incomplete teams may be assigned members. Max: 36 teams.





Puzzles

The brands used will be CherryPazzi, Schmidt and KS Games, and will be either 500 or 1000 pieces. 

Total: 11,000 pieces.

Sizes: 500 pcs = 48 x 35 cm, 1000 pcs = 50 x 70 cm, standard rectangular ribbon cut.

Ranking is by number of pieces completed. Teams keep all 12 assigned puzzles.


Puzzle Rules

  • Puzzles must be completed in assigned order.
  • No opening/manipulating boxes before time starts.
  • Raise hand near completion (50-80 pieces) to receive next puzzle.
  • Only one puzzle may be skipped with prior notice; must be completed if time allows.


Tables and Venue

Each team gets one 70x140 cm table and four chairs. Tables are close together.

  • Bring own sorting boards/trays; none provided.
  • Keep walkways clear; store bags along walls or reception/storage room.
  • Puzzle swap in separate room. Playground and Moselle path nearby.


Other Event Guidelines

  • Fun and relaxed atmosphere; music and announcements throughout.
  • Respect fellow puzzlers, avoid distractions.
  • Individual times not officially recorded.
  • Photos/videos may be taken and shared online.
  • Spectators welcome, no designated space, food only with pre-purchase.


Puzzle Swap

Participants may bring puzzles to swap in a casual, self-managed system. Equal piece-count exchange encouraged. Puzzles should be bagged inside and missing pieces indicated. A free table will be available for low-quality puzzles.


Parking

Plenty of parking available. Exit token from reception: €4.50 per use.


Language

The event language is English. Organizers also speak German and some French.

Food and Drink

Meals available at the bistro and must be purchased in addition to ticket:

  • Lunch - €10
  • Coffee break - €8
  • Dinner - €10

Includes warm meals, salads, soup, water, tea. Special diets supported.

Outside food allowed in moderation; larger items to be eaten outside or in vehicles.

Snacks available at reception: currywurst, pizza, chips, drinks, etc.
